What is a life calendar?

A life calendar shows a whole human life on a single page: one row per year, 52 squares per row. The idea became well known through Tim Urban's essay "Your Life in Weeks" and Oliver Burkeman's book "Four Thousand Weeks" - an average life is roughly that long.

Seeing it laid out is not meant to scare you. It's a quiet reminder that the weeks are countable, and that this one is worth spending on things that matter to you. The Stoics called the same thought memento mori.

Questions

How are the weeks counted?

Each row is one year of your life, starting on your birthday, with 52 squares. Full years count 52 weeks each; in the current year, the weeks since your last birthday are added. That way your birthday always starts a new row.

How many weeks does a life have?

With a life expectancy of 80 years it's 4,160 weeks, with 90 years 4,680. You can pick any value between 50 and 110 years.

Is my birth date stored?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. The page doesn't save your input and sends nothing to a server.

Can I keep my life calendar on my phone?

Yes, the free Peak Life app has it built in and updates it every week. It also tracks habits, goals and the countries you've visited.
